twenty的序数词是twentieth，其含义是第二十，序数词是数词的一种。同时序数词是有缩写形式的，比如first–1st、second–2nd等，其中1st，2nd，3rd为特殊形式，其它都是阿拉伯数字后加th。 序数词在不同的英语语境中，用法也都不相同使用。正常序数词时前加定冠词the，但是，以下7种特殊情况是不加the：

1）、当序数词前有形容词性物主代词或名词所有格修饰时，序数词前不用 the。 I was the first chick to break out of its Shell, and it thought I was its mother。 我是小鸡破壳而出看见的第一人，它以为我是它的妈妈。 The uncle next door was aunt Li Ling’s third boyfriend。 隔壁的叔叔是李玲阿姨第三任男朋友。

2）、当表达分数时，序数词前不用 the。 They bought three quarters of the village’s Rice。 他们收购了这个村庄四分之三的大米。 Three fifths of the students are from Qingdao。 五分之三的学生来自青岛。

3）、当表达"又一，再一"时，序数词前不用 the，但可加不定冠词。 The brave mother gave birth to her fourth child。 那个勇敢的妈妈生了第四个宝宝。 I know I made a mistake，Please give me a second chance。 我知道错了，请给我第二次机会。

4）、当表达"年月日"时，序数词前不用the。 Han Meimei was born on August 6,1990。 韩梅梅出生在1990年8月6日。

5）、当序数词在句中作状语时，序数词前不用 the。 Lin Fangfang finished the dance first。 林芳芳最先跳完了那支舞。 Who got there second? 谁第二个到那儿的？

6）、当表达比赛中获得的名次时，序数词前不用 the。 Lily ranked first in grades。 丽丽在年段成绩排名第一。 She won third place in the poetry reading contest。 她在诗歌朗诵比赛中获得了第三名。

7）、当表示某人的多少岁的生日时，序数词前不加the。 It’s little Li Lei’s first birthday。 这是小李磊的第一个生日。 Mom said she was happy for her fifty birthdays。 妈妈说她的第五十个生日过得很开心。
